Let’s Walk the Earth
The news can be depressing, and we all need a respite from the realities of our current era. By subscribing to Walking the Earth, you’ll enjoy a weekly escape as you travel along with me on the Camino de Santiago. You’ll share my discoveries and immerse yourself in the utterly heart-stopping and soul-nourishing beauty of the Camino.
You’ll receive a post each Wednesday describing another step on the journey — the sights, the sounds, the joy of realizing that it’s not too late after all. And I hope you will find, as I did, that your heart can continue to expand, no matter how old you are or what you think you already know about yourself and the world.
On occasion I will share bonus posts about Camino how-tos and observations about the very real connection between walking and healing. And how to bring the spirit of the Camino back into your everyday life.
If you aspire to walk the Camino — or if it’s something that you just want to experience vicariously — you will get a very real taste of this adventure by subscribing to my newsletter.
About me
I’m like a lot of women. I spent decades working hard in my career as a journalist and editor while also taking care of my family. I have no regrets!
But I always harbored a dream: to once again travel on my own, as I did in my 20s, and to connect with people from around the world. My first goal was to complete the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile pilgrimage walk across the north of Spain. In 2023, I accomplished this goal and grew in ways that I never could have imagined.
Walking really does heal the soul. So does travel. So does writing about it. I kept a journal and captured my reflections every day — often in a state of exhaustion and wonder.
There’s a saying that “the Camino provides” … and I indeed found that for me, in my late 50s, this epic walk connected me with a part of myself that had long been obscured during the busy years of working and raising a family.
You can learn more about me on my website and LinkedIn page. That’s the professional stuff. But here — Substack — is where I write about what’s really going on in my heart and soul. I’d love to share it with you.
I’d love to hear from you!
